‘I’m switching brands’ GMC Sierra owner is fed up by problems before 50k miles
One man has been a General Motors fan for years. However, his GMC Sierra 1500 isn’t like the other trucks he’s enjoyed owning. It’s had multiple problems before reaching 50,000 miles, as he considers switching brands for the first time in over a decade.
GMC Sierra owner faces too many problems before reaching 50,000 miles
TikTok user @79dirtroadlivin admits that he might switch truck brands in a video that shows the GMC Sierra problems he has been struggling with.
He shows his $85,000 Sierra AT4X truck while explaining that it’s the baddest model available and shares his love for the brand. For example, he has a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado, and his wife drives a GMC Acadia. The 2006 Duramax diesel is going strong with almost 300,000 miles.
However, his GMC Sierra with the 6.2-liter V8 engine is burning through three and a half quarts of oil between oil changes. Then his truck had a grille recall for pieces that could detach. His grille flew off while he was driving.
Later, he was driving, and an upper control arm ball joint fell apart on the road. There are only 42,000 miles on the odometer. Also, because of the stop sale/engine recall without a fix, he can’t sell or trade his truck in right now.
Commenters shared that all new trucks are junk these days, and one previous GMC owner shared that he was happy after switching to Ford. But Ford trucks have numerous recalls to deal with.
Others recommend switching to Toyota or Ram. I’m wondering if the upper control arm will have a recall soon, becausethis seems like a common issue. What do y’all think he should do?
