The new GMC Sierra EV AT4 trim wouldn’t have gotten stuck in mud
I’m still embarrassed about getting the GMC Sierra EV stuck in the mud. However, one new model might have the perfect solution. Hopefully, I’ll get a chance to take the 2026 GMC Sierra EV AT4 for a spin to see if it’s better for off-roading.
I wonder if the 2026 GMC Sierra EV AT4 would get stuck in the mud
Recently, I explained how I got the 2025 GMC Sierra EV stuck in the mud. I had the Denali model and the tires just didn’t have the grip to get free. However, I still maintain that the 8,970 lb weight of the truck could have been an issue.
In reality, it rained way too much the day before for me to park in the grass. However, General Motors announced the 2026 GMC Sierra EV AT4 model. It’s off-roading focused and I bet I could have gotten it out of my sticky situation.
According to Car and Driver, the Sierra EV AT4 comes with tow hooks, two extra inches of ground clearance, a coil-spring suspension, a front skid plate, and 35-inch all-terrain tires. I’m mostly excited about the addition of tow hooks and chunky tires.
I’ve pulled off a lot of stunts where tow hooks have been my lifesaver. Plus, the larger surface area of the tires combined with the deep grooves in the thread should enhance its grip.
The 2025 Sierra EV already has an excellent 8.9 inches of ground clearance, so the boost to 10.9 inches doesn’t seem necessary unless you plan to do some serious off-roading. Also, the AT4 trim starts at $81,395 and I really hope I get to spend a week with it soon.
