If you own or owned a 2011 to 2016 Chevrolet Silverado or GMC Sierra with a Duramax diesel engine, GM might owe you cash. The automaker recently agreed to a proposed settlement over faulty CP4 fuel pumps used in these trucks.

The settlement covers owners who bought their trucks from GM-authorized dealers in California, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, New York, Pennsylvania, or Texas. The bill of sale must be between March 1, 2010, and September 13, 2024. The goal is to compensate those who dealt with CP4 fuel pump repairs. Former owners who sold their trucks before the settlement’s final approval, even if they didn’t pay for repairs, can also get a payout.

GM’s Silverado 2500 and Sierra 2500 fuel pump payouts

The compensation depends on a few factors, including how many claims are filed. If you paid for a CP4 fuel pump repair, your payout could range from $6,350 to $12,710. The final amount depends on how many people file valid claims. If 25% of those eligible submit claims, the payout could be as high as $12,712. But if 50% of owners claim, the payout will drop to around $6,356.

For former owners who didn’t pay for repairs, the payout will range between $400 and $800, depending on how many submit claims. If 5% of former owners file, they’ll see about $800. If 10% file, that drops to around $400.

How to file

To claim your payment, you’ll need to submit a valid claim on the GM Fuel Pump Settlement website. You can choose to receive your payment by paper check or through an electronic method like Venmo, PayPal, or a virtual debit card.

Key dates

The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for April 25, 2025. After that, you’ll have six months to submit your claim.

This settlement provides a real opportunity for affected 2011 to 2016 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra owners to get compensated for CP4 fuel pump issues. Whether you still own your truck or sold it, if you’re eligible, you could receive thousands of dollars from GM.
