Every kid wants a car the moment they turn 16. Finally getting the keys to a new car means freedom. While it’s a popular trend for well-off families to give their children luxury SUVs, Sarah Michelle Gellar was called out for giving her daughter a fancy birthday gift. 

Sarah Michelle Gellar buys her daughter a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 

In my humble opinion, Sarah Michelle Gellar is a total legend. The former ‘Buffy’ star changed my life by fighting evil. More recently, she changed her daughter’s life by getting her a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon for her 16th birthday. 

But according to Page Six, other fans aren’t happy about it. Sarah posted about the birthday and Jeep on Instagram, and commenters quickly swarmed to attack. 

They said they were disappointed by this parenting move. Also, there were rants about not normalizing gifting ridiculously expensive cars to new and younger drivers. 

However, when I was a kid, there was a TV show on MTV called “My Super Sweet 16” where new drivers got much nicer rides and had parties that cost more than a Wrangler Rubicon. 

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs got his, Justin, a $300,000 Maybach when he turned 16. Kendall Jenner got a $90,000 Range Rover. The 2025 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon has an MSRP of $53,450. Sure, This is an expensive SUV to give a teen. 

However, Sarah Michelle Gellar and her husband, Freddie Prince Jr., probably had enough cash to get her a much more expensive SUV. They could have picked something a little safer, though. 

My parents never let me have a Wrangler as a teen because they told me I would just flip it. I did have a wild driving style back then. But maybe Sarah and Freddie have raised a more responsible driver so far. Let’s give them a break!
