Connecticut gas station fuel mix-up damages 25 cars

Multiple drivers visited a Metro gas station in Southington, Connecticut, to fill up their cars as normal. However, 25 people didn’t make it very far after leaving due to receiving the wrong fuel.

Due to a fuel mix-up, diesel was accidentally placed in the gas tanks underground, and gas was accidentally placed in the diesel tanks. The accident was caused by the fuel company, leaving people with expensive repair bills.

According to WFSB, one BMW owner thought he was getting premium gas for his ride. However, he got diesel instead. Now his car won’t stop, and he’s facing $17,000 in repair costs.

A truck owner thought he was getting diesel, but filled up with regular gas instead. His repair bills amount to about $1,500. Forbes Premium Fuel made the delivery to this gas station and has acknowledged being responsible for the mix-up.

Impacted drivers are encouraged to call their customer service line at 203-468-2777. However, the company hasn’t been responding to questions or requests.

The Department of Consumer Protection shared that the tanks were cleaned out a day after the incident. There could be more impacted drivers out there. If you filled up at the Metro gas station on November 29 and you’re experiencing car problems, file a complaint.
