‘Forza Horizon 6’ Launch Date, Gameplay Trailer Released, Showcasing the Country and the Cars
Playground Games has revealed the launch date and a gameplay trailer for the sixth edition of the popular motorsports video game Forza Horizon. Forza Horizon 6 will be set in Japan and features Toyota’s new GR GT supercar.
On Wednesday, the developers announced that Forza Horizon 6 launches on May 19th for Xbox and PC. They will release a PlayStation 5 version later in 2026. It’s been five years since they released the last Forza Horizon game, so the video game community met this week’s news with great anticipation.
Welcome to Japan, tourist. Where do you want to go?
According to Xbox Wire, Forza Horizon 6 begins with the player not being a professional driver, but as a tourist. The goal is to attend the Horizon Festival in Japan one day.
“Ultimately, I think it really boils down to the fact that so many of us love that idea of going to a place that you don’t know, a place that you’re eager to discover,” said Playground Games Design Director Torben Ellert. “You have this motivation to go to Japan with the Horizon Festival, but you’re only attending as a fan, with a dream to take part in it.
“That felt like a great way to frame up that big open-door experience and explore the question of ‘what would it take for you to drop everything to fly to the other side of the world to pursue your dream?’
“Somehow, it felt right in this game to just put you on the ground – like you just got off the plane, you’ve got a couple of friends that share your dream and know the surroundings. It’s a notional projection of yourself in the game, and the thrill of arriving in a new place full of opportunities.”

The developers separated the map for Forza Horizon 6 into distinct districts, including the suburbs on the outskirts of Tokyo, a docklands district, and the iconic downtown area.
“The combination of enormous verticality, glass, neon signs, adverts for all manners of things, with Tokyo we’ve created this ultra-high-density space unlike anything we’ve made before,” Ellert added. “It’s the most visually, radically different space we’ve ever built for a Horizon game.”

Forza Horizon 6 features several new additions to the game
Players can unlock eight player houses throughout Japan. These serve as fast-travel points and a customization space with garages that players can fully decorate.
Another new addition is The Estate, a much larger piece of land players can acquire and build pretty much whatever they’d like.
Forza Horizon 6 also introduces Car Meets, a feature inspired by Japanese car culture and by the Daikoku car meet.
Of course, there are many cars. Many, many cars. Around 550 different cars will be available at launch, including the Horizon 6 cover cars, the 2025 Toyota GR GT Prototype, and the 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser.
