Ford’s record recall year trudges on, adding over 355,000 F-Series pickup trucks to the mix. This time, the NHTSA says it’s faulty instrument panels that may “increase the risk of a crash.” 

The latest Ford recall names 355,656 F-150, Super Duty trucks for a faulty instrument panel

The Ford Motor Company and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) have issued a recall for late-model F-Series pickup trucks, ranging from the F-250 to the F-550. NHTSA Recall No. 25V540, 355,656 F-Series pickup trucks may feature instrument panel clusters (IPC) that may fail to operate as intended.

According to the recall notice, the Ford IPCs “may render safety-related telltales and gauges unreadable in certain conditions.” To that end, the safety regulatory agency maintains that the blank or malfunctioning screen may fail to relay important safety information, which in turn “can increase the risk of a crash.”

As for the cause, the recall notice says that, during the sleep entry sequence of the cluster, a controller area network (CAN) wakeup interrupt may happen during a small timeframe. That CAN wakeup interrupt can then cause a memory protection fault and a malfunctioning display.

What does that mean for you? In short, your 2025 to 2026 Ford F-150 or Super Duty pickup truck may require an IPC software update. Fortunately, that fix will be free of charge to owners at a Ford or Lincoln dealer network service center.

The latest notice adds to Ford’s record year for recall notices. As of early August, the Blue Oval has recalled over six million cars, trucks, and SUVs in the better part of 100 recalls, smashing GM’s 2014 record.
