Ford Partners With Police to Protect F-150 Trucks From Thieves
Criminals are out there, watching and waiting for the perfect opportunity to steal trucks. But owners of Ford F-150 models might have a lower risk of being targeted. Ford has partnered with the police to beef up security.

The truck that’s stolen the most often is the Chevrolet Silverado 1500. It used to be the Ford F-150. However, the automaker has been working to protect drivers from thieves by improving security tech.
Ford even collaborated with the police in an effort to deter criminals. In 2024 the Ford Stolen Vehicle Service was launched with the F-150. The software has a ‘Start Inhibit’ feature that allows owners to disable the truck’s engine.
They can do this in a matter of seconds with the FordPass app. This prevents thieves from being able to start the trucks. Plus, the feature works if the keyfob is left in your truck and prevents thieves from being able to clone the keyfob.
It sends alerts to drivers about potential thefts, including if an unauthorized person enters the truck, if the doors are opened, and if the truck is moved or towed.
Once the owner realizes their pickup has been stolen, they’re encouraged to file a police report and contact a Ford call center once it’s complete. Then Ford will coordinate with the police to shut the engine off and pinpoint its location.
According to WRAL, the security package comes with the purchase of a pickup. It’s included for one year once activated. After the year is up, it costs $7.99 per month.
The Detroit police officer shared that understanding methods of theft, such as signal cloning, allows them to work with companies to try to stop criminals.
