Florida super speeder goes to jail for going 104 mph in a 40 mph zone near Disney Resort
Since Florida rolled out its so-called “super speeder” law last month, drivers have been getting handcuffed for triple-digit speeds. And the latest speed freak to break the law found himself driving away from “The Happiest Place on Earth” to a jail cell for nearly tripling the limit.
A Florida driver broke the speed limit near Disney Springs by 64 mph, breaking both criteria of the state’s ‘super speeder’ law
It happens. We all look down at the speedometer from time to time and notice that we’re creeping into the pricey speeding ticket zone. No harm done. You simply let off the gas and slow down a bit, right? Not this guy.
No, law enforcement in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, reportedly pulled over Hennish Bahadur for the wild speed run, per Inside The Magic. His speed? Bahadur was driving at 104 mph at the time of the stop.
That wouldn’t be too far outside the realm of possibility on an 80-mph stretch of Texas highway. But this was a 40-mph road near Disney Springs, a popular shopping, dining, and recreational spot for mass quantities of tourists. Yikes.
In addition to the sheer wildness of it all, Bahadur’s crime makes him a double-loser with regard to Florida’s new super speeder law. The law, which went into effect on the first of July, was meant to give teeth to the Sunshine State’s latest endeavor to crack down on excessive speeding.
According to the law, drivers who exceed the speed limit by 50 mph are susceptible to harsher penalties than motorists who speed to lesser extents. In short, break the super speeder criteria, and you’re heading to jail.
It’s not just the 50 mph rule, either; drivers who hit 100 mph or more, even by one mph, will end up in jail under the new law. While the law hasn’t stopped all excessive speeding in the state, it has led to dozens of arrests since its start last month.
