Florida police watch dog drive a car for nearly an hour

I’ve heard plenty of stories about the infamous Florida man stealing cars. But this time, a dog jumped behind the wheel of a car.

The owner of the vehicle left their car running when their labrador retriever jumped behind the wheel. It managed to paw it in reverse and performed donuts for almost an hour.

When a neighbor spotted the vehicle driving in circles, she thought it might be a student driver making wild mistakes. They wouldn’t stop backing up!

According to CNN, Police officers and firefighters arrived on the scene to watch the spectacle. The dog finally hit a mailbox and garbage cans to slow the vehicle down.

This allowed a police officer to approach the vehicle and open the door. Then a massive black lab jumped out without a scratch, as if nothing had happened. The dog’s owner has promised to fix the mailbox. Luckily, no one was injured.

Witnesses were impressed by the dog’s skills and jokingly claimed that it should get a license. However, this is a reminder to never leave your vehicle running unattended!

Many thieves will see a running vehicle without a driver and take the opportunity to strike, even if pets are inside. Sometimes, dogs that are accidentally stolen get sold or dumped.
