Florida men use a bulldozer and a rifle to bully 2 people camped near private property
The Florida men are at it again. This time, the crime formula is simple, yet shocking. Take a handful of aggravated men, throw in a rifle, add a bulldozer, and unleash the whole thing on a duo of unhoused people camped out near private property.
Things escalated quickly when 3 men used a bulldozer and a firearm to try to evict two homeless campers
A Florida man and his cohorts are in hot water after taking things a bit too far to displace unwanted campers. The men showed up at a campsite near the DeLand, Florida, property, hoping to send a homeless couple packing.
But rather than starting small, the Floridians escalated things. One of the men, 31-year-old Juan Olascoaga, reportedly brandished an assault rifle and fired a shot during a confrontation with the homeless couple, per Fox 35.
If that wasn’t enough, one of Olascoaga’s companions was driving a bulldozer at the time in an attempt to intimidate the unwanted campers. What’s more, the trio allegedly threatened to “mow the camp down.”
Fortunately, neither of the homeless campers nor anyone else, for that matter, sustained injury during the altercation. But that didn’t stop the authorities from putting Olascoaga in handcuffs.
As for the charges, Volusia County police charged the weapon-toting member of the Florida men with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill. In short, the authorities concluded that, while Olascoaga brandished and discharged the rifle, he didn’t intend to shoot the campers.
Interestingly enough, the police also charged Olascoaga with cocaine trafficking. But the details surrounding the illicit substance are thin at best.
That said, it’s unclear what came of the use of the bulldozer to threaten the campers. At the very least, threatening to strike someone with a vehicle, let alone a 17,000-lb bulldozer, could constitute “assault by threat,” per the Weinstein Legal Team.
