Police officer lets 105 mph car go so the bride inside can get to her wedding [Video]
The police officer walked up to the Tesla’s left front window. Reportedly, the EV was going 105 mph in Port St. Lucie, Florida, when the officer initiated the traffic stop. Body cam footage shows the driver dressed in a tux. The woman sitting next to him had a wedding dress on.
“You’re already late.”
The bride said that the wedding started at 2:30 pm. It was 2:42. “We’re trying to get there,” she responded calmly to the police officer’s questions.
Ultimately, the officer releases them under one condition.
The cop lets them get to the wedding, but not without a mandatory court date
“I’ll let you take her, but I’m going to give you a mandatory court date.”
In Florida, driving that fast might land you “dangerous excessive speeding.” For a first offense, the charge is punishable by up to 30 days in jail and a $500 fine.
Here’s the thing: Teslas are fast – the Model S Plaid goes from 0 to 60 mph in just a hair over two seconds. But driving 105 mph to get to a wedding ceremony that won’t start without the leading lady just isn’t worth it. You’re obviously endangering yourself, your passengers, and anyone near you. Imagine crashing at that speed.
In the end, the bride thanks the officer for expediting the traffic stop so she can go get hitched.
