Wyoming residents woke up to the sound of gun shots in their neighborhood in the middle of the night. A man fired 12 shots as a thief took off in his truck. Then he jumped in another car to chase the suspect down.

Wyoming man shoots at and chases man who stole his truck

Casper police officers responded to the scene Saturday night after receiving multiple complaints about gun shots being fired and a stolen truck in West Casper.

Things started around 9 PM on the 2000 block of Fremont Avenue. A caller said that he left his truck running in his driveway, unattended. Then he saw a man jump in and drive away with it.

So, the man fired between 10 to 15 shots at the fleeing suspect. Then he got into another car and followed the thief. According to Oil City News, he didn’t let up as the suspect drove into an alley behind Smith’s Grocery on CY Avenue.

The owner intentionally rammed into the stolen vehicle to prevent the driver from getting further away. Then police officers arrived to take control of the scene.

They identified the suspect as 41-year-old Angelo Arvizo. He was arrested and charged with felony theft and driving under the influence.

I wonder how insurance companies will respond to the owner of a car using it to stop a thief from taking his truck. Technically, the owner damaged both vehicles. Also, going after a suspect is extremely dangerous!

Plus, this is another case of a driver making a simple mistake that allows people to easily steal cars. Don’t leave your keys in your car, even if you’re running into your house, apartment, store, etc for just a minute.
