Don’t break the law, and you won’t have to worry about what to do when the police come for you. One man in Oregon briefly escaped federal agents when they approached with a warrant. He stole a Homeland Security SUV and fled across state lines. 

Oregon man escapes federal agents in stolen Homeland Security SUV 

Agents with the federal Homeland Security Investigations were prepared to serve justice upon obtaining a warrant to search a criminal’s home in Oregon. 

The suspect, identified as 43-year-old Travis Jay Grygla, was home in the 2900 block of Southeast 119th Avenue when officers arrived. 

Grygla was quickly detained and placed in the front passenger seat of a federal agent’s vehicle. However, he wasn’t wearing handcuffs. Then, for some reason, he was left alone. 

Grygla quickly locked all the doors, rolled off a window, climbed into the driver’s seat, and sped off. A massive police chase ensued. Another agent tried to block him as he merged onto Interstate 205. 

However, he rammed the car and kept going. According to Oregon Live, he reached speeds of 115 to 120 mph and entered Washington state. Two guns, police gear, and evidence collected from his home were in the SUV. 

Gyrgla managed to maneuver around several spike strips until one deflated the front driver’s tire. He continued to run, riding on the exposed metal rim. 

Finally, a police officer tapped the back of the SUV’s bumper, causing it to flip and end the pursuit. Now the charges he’s facing are much worse. But luckily, no one was injured.
