Who doesn’t love a feud? Kendrick Lamar versus Drake? Dwyane “The Rock” Johnson and Vin Diesel. How about Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Canadian-American singer-songwriter Neil Young? Well, if one of Young’s latest creations is any indication, he’s no fan of a Tesla Cybertruck or Model Y.

Music legend Neil Young is less than subtle with his lyrical attacks on Elon Musk and Tesla

Protest songs are almost as old as protest itself. Hell, songs in protest of the Vietnam War have gone down in rock n’ roll history for their message and timeless playability. Well, Neil Young, another Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, has another protest song. No, this one isn’t an anti-war anthem; it’s a call to steer clear of Tesla’s EVs due to the brand’s CEO, Elon Musk.

Throughout his song “Let’s Roll Again,” Young calls out the auto industry as a whole. At times, Young sings, “Build something special that people need.” He gets more dramatic as he goes, singing, “Build us something that won’t kill our kids.”

However, later in the song, you know, before he goes after Elon Musk’s Tesla directly, Young sounds something like a coach delivering a pep talk before the second half. “Come on, America, let’s get in the race. China’s way ahead, they’re making clean cars,” Young sings. But then the Canadian-American musician goes for the throat in a less-than-subtle manner. “If you’re a fascist, get a Tesla,” he sings.

Of course, Young’s perspective on the matter isn’t exactly, well, original. Tesla vehicles, and more specifically, Musk, have been under fire from critics for quite some time. However, anti-Musk feelings reached a fever pitch after he started heading the newly minted Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). That’s right; it’s a government-affiliated agency with the name of Musk’s cryptocurrency, “Dogecoin.”

However, the irreverent approach to agency naming conventions isn’t what earned Musk his damaged public image. Instead, the CEO’s political antics, both domestically and internationally, have soured once-supporters and further angered his critics. What’s more, Musk’s cost-slashing efforts with DOGE have put hundreds of thousands of Americans out of work. Unfortunately for current Tesla owners, the anti-Musk sentiment has put their property in the crosshairs with more than angry words.
