Duke Dennis has made more than enough money streaming to nearly three million people on Twitch to splurge on cars. One of those splurges was among Dodge’s sunset “Last Call” models, the Challenger SRT Hellcat “Black Ghost.” However, thieves had other plans and stole the streamer’s beloved muscle car. Thankfully, Dennis had installed a couple of cheap countermeasures in the car that brought the Black Ghost home.

Two little tools were the key to Twitch streamer Duke Dennis keeping his rare Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Black Ghost

Dodge got some serious mileage out of the end of the last-generation Challenger and Charger lineups. Rather than unveiling a single sayonara edition like the Jaguar F-TYPE or Chevrolet Camaro, Dodge rolled out seven “Last Call” editions for the Challenger and Charger. Seven. And Twitch star Duke Dennis couldn’t resist the allure of arguably the coolest car in the bunch.

It’s the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat “Black Ghost,” a direct homage to Detroit legend Godfrey Qualls and his ominous, almost supernatural classic Challenger. Dodge made just 300 of them, fewer than both iterations of the SRT Demon. Understandably, then, Duke Dennis was angered to discover thieves had made off with his wheels.

However, Duke Dennis had placed not one, but two trackers in his special edition muscle car. It’s a good use of redundancy, as thieves may locate one. Needless to say, Duke Dennis tracked his car to a Waffle House before calling the authorities to sort things out. Disaster averted.

This isn’t the first time a double-tracker system has facilitated the recovery of a stolen performance car

A double-tracker system has a proven record, too. In the case of a daring airport theft attempt in 2024, Apple AirTags helped police recover a stolen car. Like Duke Dennis’s special Dodge Challenger, this was another sought-after performance car. However, instead of wearing an SRT badge and gator-skin vinyl, the theft target was a $140,000 BMW M8 Competition.

The owner quickly noticed that the airport-parked BMW had moved and provided the tracking information to the police. While the BMW refused to stop for the police, the resultant high-speed chase ended with the traveler’s BMW M8 Competition back in the owner’s hands.
