Have you ever been so drunk that you started driving the wrong way and caused a head-on collision? I really hope not! Drivers should not be drunk behind the wheel at all. One New York police officer drunkenly caused chaos that injured three people.

Drunk New York police officer slams into garbage truck

One New York police officer is sobering up in the hospital after drinking and driving. The officer, identified as 31-year-old Dominick Milazzo, will be arraigned once medically cleared.

He was in his personal vehicle, a 2024 Ford Bronco, heading the wrong way. According to police, he was heading northbound in the southbound lanes of Route 135.

Then the off-duty Nassau County officer caused a head-on collision with a garbage truck near Exit 4 in Seaford, around 4:44 AM. According to Long Island News, he was immediately arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI).

He was then transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. Three occupants in the garbage truck, ages 56, 31, and 19, were also taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Honestly, it’s impressive how well the bronco held up against the impact. I would love to know how fast the vehicles were traveling at the time of impact. Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS) videos show the front of the Bronco crumpling like a tin car.

Plus, I’d like to know his blood alcohol content. It must have been higher than the 0.08% legal limit. There is an ongoing investigation into the incident, so perhaps more information will be shared.
