The more I learn about Wisconsin, the more I hear that it has a reputation for drinking. One man perpetuated this stereotype as he went on a bender. While driving the wrong way, he hit a lumber truck. Then he stole a pickup and gave police officers a headache.

A drunk Wisconsin man hits a lumber truck while driving the wrong way

Police officers in Pensaukee, Wisconsin, had their hands full as a drunk driver caused chaos. It all started with troopers responding to reports of a driver going north in the southbound lanes of Highway 41.

Oconto Sheriff Todd Skaaban shared that the man caused a head-on collision with the lumber truck. The impact of the collision with the semi-truck caused traffic to shut down for hours.

According to WBTV, a good Samaritan stopped to offer help. Then the drunk man stole his pickup truck and fled the scene. Police officers searched for hours. Eventually, the stolen truck was spotted at a Shell gas station.

The drunk man was arrested. He may face charges such as recklessly endangering safety, first-offense operating while intoxicated, hit-and-run of an attended vehicle, theft of movable property, and operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent.

It’s unclear what that man’s blood alcohol content was. But I’m assuming it was above the legal limit of 0.08%. Also, I hope the good Samaritan’s truck wasn’t damaged. If it’s held as evidence, the owner might not get it back for a while.

This story ends with rare good news, as no one involved suffered any injuries.
