The average driver doesn’t know a ton about how their own car works. That’s because they don’t have to. We have professional mechanics to worry about the specifics for us. But as a result, mechanics often need to address some hilarious questions. Mr. Tripod Mechanic is a TikToker who shares some of these questions with his followers.

“Someone came to our shop today, from Burger King [across the street] this morning and says, ‘Can you put air in my tire?'”

It’s a fair request, not completely out of the blue. And what’s more, Mr. Tripod Mechanic and his colleagues were happy to oblige the driver. Even as they were opening up at 8:30 AM. “We say, can you bring your vehicle here?”

The driver had other ideas. “He says, ‘can you just put it in a jug, and I’ll carry it to my vehicle?'”

I’m really not sure what this customer was thinking. Sure, they might not have understood the principles of compressed air. But how did they plan to transfer the tire air from the jug, into the tire valve stem once they opened it up?

Does he think tire shops have special “air to-go” jugs kicking around? Maybe they’re made of styrofoam and fold up, like at Burger King.

“Common sense is extinct.”

Mr. Tripod just asked the driver what in the world he was thinking. But I would have been tempted to charge him $10 for a jug of special, premium tire air.
