Earlier in the week, I noticed that the Jeep Wrangler 4xe had a stop sale. I thought it was due to fire-related recalls without a solution. However, I was wrong. In reality, Stellantis is discontinuing every 4xe vehicle, including the Grand Cherokee and Chrysler Pacifica.

Stellantis discontinues 4xe vehicles

Say goodbye to plug-in hybrid vehicles by Stellantis. It’s discontinuing PHEV options. You can no longer buy a new Jeep Wrangler 4xe, Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe, or Chrysler Pacifica PHEV in America.

I’ve driven and reviewed each of these models. Honestly, the loss of the Pacifica PHEV hurts the most. It was incredibly fast, athletic, and efficient. I enjoyed the Wrangler 4xe too, but the thirsty Rubicon 391 is also fun. The Grand Cherokee 4xe was a bit unrefined, though.

Also, this comes as a surprise because the Wrangler 4xe ranks as the best-selling PHEV in the United States! But according to Inside EVs, Stallantes shares that customer demand is shifting.

PHEV programs in North America will be phased out beginning in 2026 to focus on more competitive electric solutions. Hybrids and range-extended vehicles will be developed where they best meet customer needs.

PHEVs no longer benefit from the $7,500 EV tax credit. As a result, driver demand is plummeting. These Jeep SUVs and mini-van join other electrified options such as the Ford F-150 Lightning in the graveyard.

However, there are still new electric cars on the way. I’m eagerly waiting to take the new Cherokee Hybrid for a spin. Plus, the Ram 1500 REV and Jeep Grand Wagoneer range-extended models are on the way.
