The dash camera of a semi-truck recently captured a reckless Corvette driver narrowly escaping disaster after attempting a very ill-advised pass. Making the situation even more frustrating, after nearly causing a serious crash, the Corvette driver drove off as if nothing had happened.

The dashcam video was posted to Reddit with the title “Corvette almost ruined it for everybody.” In it, the semi-truck is driving along in the right lane of an interstate highway. A Chevy Silverado is traveling just ahead of the semi in the left lane.

Suddenly, a silver C7 Corvette traveling at a much higher rate of speed appears on the semi-truck’s left. The supercar tries to weave between the semi and the pickup truck, but loses traction as it rapidly changes lanes.

The rear end of the Corvette fishtails, causing it to leave the road, slide through the grass, and take out a road sign. As this is happening, the semi-truck driver starts honking and cussing at the supercar driver.

The Corvette then shoots back onto the road just in front of a guardrail and into the direct sight of the semi. Somehow, the truck driver slows down enough and squeezes to the left, narrowly missing the out-of-control Corvette.

The semi’s momentum takes it onto the grass on the left shoulder, where it comes to a stop. Seconds later, the camera spots the Corvette, back on the highway, speeding away.

Some perspective on how amazing the semi-truck driver was in avoiding the Corvette

How well did the semi-truck driver do in avoiding the spinning Corvette? Especially since the person who posted the video said the driver was hauling a full load of chemicals in a tanker.

“For those that can’t tell, OP is driving a tractor-trailer,” a top commenter on Reddit wrote. “This means it weighs about 35,000 to 80,000 pounds, depending on load. Based on the way it bounces on the median, I’m guessing closer to 80k.

“If you watch very closely, OP’s speed does slow once the car starts to spin and hit the road sign. And yes, you CAN brake, honk, and steer simultaneously. A sure way to jackknife a big rig is to jerk the steering wheel to the side while applying maximum braking. Additionally, if the rig was jackknifing while it entered the median, it surely would have rolled over.

“If you watch closely in full-frame, and freeze just after the rig passes the car, you can see the car in the truck’s mirror, spinning backwards, mere inches from the side of the truck.

“In my opinion, the truck driver made all the right moves, with a high degree of skill, quite possibly saving the life of the Corvette driver, and minimizing damage to truck and cargo. Nice job OP! And yes, the Corvette sped away in a typically douche move.”

In other words, as another commenter wrote, “Truck driver is a badass goddess.”
