Colorado Springs pizza driver’s Honda Accord stolen right in front of him…twice
In Colorado Springs, a pizza delivery driver’s shift turned into a two-part car theft saga that sounds more like a movie script than a workday. Connor McLeod was out delivering for Black Jack Pizza when he made a quick stop at a gas station on Uintah Street. He left his car, a Honda Accord, running and dashed inside for a drink.
By the time he came back out, someone else had taken the driver’s seat. Literally. A masked individual slammed the door shut on him and jerked the car back and forth before speeding off.
McLeod used another phone to track the stolen vehicle nearby, but the thief had already gutted it. The electronics, including his own phone, were destroyed, likely to avoid being tracked.
Days later, police spotted the Honda Accord near Sand Creek High School. McLeod met with a community service officer, signed some paperwork, and arranged for a tow and new key.
But before help arrived, car theft struck again.
As he waited next to his reclaimed Honda Accord, a suspicious vehicle pulled up
Two masked individuals jumped out, hopped in the Accord, and took off. McLeod chased them, but they disappeared.
He’s now without his delivery car (and out of a job). He’s relying on a backup truck, but his missing Honda Accord had only liability insurance, CNN’s regional KOAA shared.
Police say vehicle theft is actually down 38% in Colorado Springs compared to early 2024, but they still deal with repeat offenders getting arrested and released within days.
