State of Colorado Seizes Car Dealership After 92% of the Vehicles It Sold Didn’t Have Titles
The State of Colorado seized a Fort Lupton car dealership after investigators found that it had sold dozens of vehicles without titles. The authorities caught the dealership when numerous customers were unable to complete the registration of their vehicles.
The Colorado Department of Revenue seized the car dealership, Off-Road Automotive, because it lacked titles for 48 of the 52 vehicles it sold between Dec. 4, 2024, and Aug. 13, 2025. That’s a little over 92%, folks.
Despite lacking vehicle titles, several customers continued to make payments on the cars they purchased. Unfortunately, they have been legally unable to drive them.
One of the scammed customers speaks out
One of those customers, Mindy Gomer, told 9 News that the situation has created “lots of stress.” She and her fiancé, Brian Martin, bought two trucks from Off-Road Automotive last August.
“The title was never switched from the last owner to the dealership,” Gomer said, about a Dodge truck they tried to register after purchasing it.
“It’s taking $500 off the table,” Gomer added. “That’s food money. That’s $500 a month extra that we could be saving.”
Several other customers of Off-Road Automotive expressed complaints online, claiming they had never received a trailer title and that “no one bothered to get me my title.”
The car dealership lost its license, and its reputation
In the minutes of a Colorado Motor Vehicle Dealer Board meeting, the car dealer’s license was suspended because “they have engaged in deliberate and willful acts and their conduct poses a threat to the public health, safety, and welfare.”
“I want the guy to be held accountable,” Gomer said. Her fiancé added, “Watch your back and do your homework.”
Attempts by 9NEWS to contact Off-Road Automotive and its owner were unsuccessful. Phone calls went unanswered, and the dealership’s website is no longer operational. That, however, hasn’t stopped people from leaving scathing negative comments online.
