All I Want for Christmas Is Rockefeller Center’s Bugatti Ornament
I have yet to visit Rockefeller Center to see the iconic Christmas tree or take a lap around the ice rink. But I may need to stop by for the first time ever. I want to ogle this year’s “ornament,” a 1937 Bugatti Type 57S Atalante.
The glorious French coupe, with its Art Deco styling, isn’t collecting snowflakes or fingerprints in the open air. Instead, it sits sealed in a glass case. Organizers placed it prominently next to the tree. That makes sense, considering a similar example sold in 2021 for $10.4 million.
The vintage Bugatti’s mission in New York
This Bugatti Atalante isn’t on holiday. It has a mission. It’s promoting an upcoming car show.
The Retromobile show in Paris is one of my favorite gatherings of vintage French cars. You no longer have to travel to France to see it. From Nov. 19-22, 2026, Retromobile will come to New York City for the first time.
Something tells me I won’t find a 1937 Bugatti in my stocking this year. Still, this display has me seriously considering the trip to New York. Catching Retromobile stateside might be the next best thing.
In the meantime, read my exclusive interview with the mechanic who prepped a Bugatti Atalante to drive cross-country last year.
