Chevy Recalls a Miniscule Number of Blazer EVs for Fixes It Messed up During a Previous Recall
Chevrolet is recalling an amusingly small number of Blazer EVs to fix a problem caused by the company messing up a previous recall. The “fix” implemented in the previous recall could now cause unintended brake activation or loss of brake function.
General Motors is recalling a grand total of 20 (yes, two-zero) 2024 and 2025 Chevrolet Blazer EVs. The recall is due to a fault with the rear parking brake wiring harness. Five of the recalled Blazers are 2025 models, while the other 15 are 2024 models. GM initially issued a recall for this issue in 2025. Unfortunately, some recalled units may have received an incorrect chassis harness replacement.
“If the parking brake actuates while driving, there is increased risk of a crash,” the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) explained in the recall notice. “If parking brake function is lost, the vehicle may roll away while unattended, increasing the risk of a crash.”
The NHTSA went on to state that “an error in GM’s electronic parts catalogue (EPC) allowed dealers to order an incorrect replacement part.
“The design routing of the incorrect replacement wire harness does not sufficiently inhibit flexing of the wires and may cause shorting or breaking of the parking brake wires under normal driving conditions.”
What to do if your Chevy Blazer EV is one of the lucky few affected by this recall
If you happen to be one of the 20 unlucky owners of a defective Chevy Blazer EV, you may receive a “service parking brake” warning. Also, in some cases, the vehicle may not shift out of park. If these things happen, you win the recall lottery. Keep an eye out for a notification of an available remedy. The NHTSA estimates they will begin mailing on March 9, 2026.
