Customer Brings Truck To Mechanic. Then It Catches Fire: ‘Ouch’
When taking your car into the auto shop, you’d assume the car will leave better than how it came in. The mechanic will work his magic, and soon, any issues your vehicle has will be solved.
For this truck driver, the exact opposite happened in their last trip to the mechanic.
In the TikTok, Kronos (@osok_kronos) shares how a truck caught on fire when visiting the mechanic shop. The TikTok has over 700 views as of this writing.
In the brief video, a truck is seen being completely engulfed in flames. As it burns, a group of men watch in disbelief; one of them seems to need the support of a pile of tires to comprehend what’s going on. The truck appears to belong to a company called Blue Collar Plumbing.
Eventually, a firetruck comes rushing in with the siren blasting. The fire fighters get their boots on the ground and start spraying water on the burning truck.
“Imagine taking your truck in for a service and finding out this happened,” the TikTok post captions.
The fire begins to slowly be put out as Daniel Powter’s “Bad Day” plays.
‘That Tune Was A Little Too Hot’
Naturally, the comments section had a field day coming up with humorous remarks about this.
“When you light your service truck on fire for free advertising,” one TikTok commenter joked.
“That tune was a little too hot,” another shared.
“So…will my truck ready for 5pm?” a third commented.
“Ouch,” a further user shared.
“Yeah definitely doesn’t seem like it was very fun,” Kronos replied back.
What Should You Do When A Vehicle Is On Fire?
Seeing a car on fire is a terrifying sight to behold. Whether you are in the vehicle or watching from afar, it’s important knowing to respond if this occurs.
According to the U.S Fire Administration, the most common ways for car fires to start are from electrical and mechanical issues, in addition to crashes.
If your vehicle catches fire while driving, the U.S Fire Administration advises to do the following. First, one should pull over as fast as possible when it’s safe to do so. Then, after stopping, they should turn off the engine completely.
Once this is done, occupants should evacuate the car immediately. It is never advised to return back to a vehicle that is on fire. One should not try to put out the car fire on their own.
If you believe the fire is underneath the hood, it’s best to leave it closed. Opening the hood has the potential for the fire spreading faster throughout the car.
As soon as everyone is out of the car, they should move far away from the burning vehicle — ideally, at least 100 feet and a safe distance from traffic. Finally, the group should call 911.
Acting immediately is essential when dealing with a car fire. It’s best to not wait around and, instead, do everything you can to leave the vehicle to get a safe spot to call 911.
How To Prevent A Car Fire
To prevent a car fire, it’s best to get regular scheduled maintenance by a mechanic, especially with an older vehicle
Progressive reports that it’s imperative to pay close attention to any electrical irregularities. This includes exposed wiring, fuses that blow continually, etc. Any visible fluid loss should not be ignored. For example, any oil stains that appear underneath the car when parked are a cause for concern.
Additionally, keeping any gas cans or propane tanks in your vehicle requires extra precaution. This includes making sure the cans and tanks are properly sealed and stored on a flat surface upright.
If driving with gas or propane inside the car, it’s best to have the windows rolled down. This prevents fumes from lingering inside the vehicle.
