This is an inspiring story about a group of strangers coming together to save a life. A 74-year-old man was driving his black Porsche 911 through Clearwater, Florida, when the car caught fire.

Good Samaritans take action

It’s not yet clear why the car caught fire or why the man couldn’t get out. But bystanders noticed and refused to let him die. They put their own lives on the line.

The Clearwater Police Department later wrote, “Two good Samaritans pulled a man who was trapped inside a burning car this afternoon on Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard.”

In video captured by a witness, two men can be seen pulling the driver from the Porsche. One rescuer wears a backpack and a black motorcycle helmet. As they drag the man to safety, a third person pitches in. A fourth runs toward them. “Other citizens came to the rescue with fire extinguishers,” the CPD added.

You’ll be happy to hear the Porsche driver survived. “The man was taken to Morton Plant Hospital for treatment. Without the involvement of these people, this story could have had a tragic outcome.”

Next time you feel hopeless, remember that complete strangers in Florida acted heroically to save someone in need. “To all the good Samaritans who came to the rescue when a man was trapped inside a burning car, you are our heroes,” CPD concluded. “Thank you for stepping up to the plate.”
