Suspect calls brother for help during dangerous police chase
Police officers initiated a traffic stop on the interstate after a suspect was clocked traveling over 100 mph in a Honda Civic. The driver briefly stopped in the emergency lane and called his brother for help.
Then he took off again despite having his car hit by a squad car twice. He gets blocked in by a Ram 1500 on the shoulder and stops a second time. Then speeds away again as a Nissan Sentra, driven by his brother shows up to help.
Eventually, the driver starts heading the wrong direction in traffic and motions for his brother to come block the police cars. The Civic driver is heard being asked to be let go because he has a kid.
The police chase continues at speeds of 100 mph as the Sentra driver tries to block the cops. As the Infiniti drifts across multiple lanes of traffic, the Honda starts to fall apart and gets a flat tire.
The Civic driver loses control on an exit ramp, allowing police officers to box him in. They spot a woman and child in the car as the Civic rams a patrol car and gets back on the highway.
Finally, the Civic spins out in a ditch, and officers apprehend him. According to Hodge Twins, they found an open container on the dashboard and shared that a helicopter was following the Infiniti.
They caught up with the Infiniti and apprehended the suspect, who smelled of alcohol. He admitted that he was trying to help his brother. Now they both face charges for felony, eluding, reckless endangerment, obstruction, and DUI. Both men are under 21.
