People looking for the best vehicles to buy often pick SUVs. This is because many drivers want the agile capabilities of a sedan but perhaps need more space than this class of vehicles offers. Luckily, Mazda vehicles are among the most reliable on the market. Naturally, this also means people with Mazda cars won’t typically need frequent visits to auto mechanics. This includes the 2025 Mazda CX-5.

The 2025 Mazda CX-5 is one of the best SUVs to buy for reliability

Many people looking for the best SUVs to buy specifically want compact options. They’re not as tiny as their subcompact rivals but are also easy to drive because of their relatively small size. Because of this, the CX-5 isn’t only one of the best Mazda vehicles but also an SUV that stands out from its competitors. It comes highly rated, as J.D. Power gave it an overall 82 out of 100, which falls into its ‘great’ category of ratings. The marketing research firm gave it the same number for quality and reliability.

This is also one of the best Mazda vehicles because it’s decently powerful. It comes standard with a 2.5-liter inline-four engine that makes 187 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque. This is an all-wheel-drive SUV, and there are also powertrain options with a turbocharged engine. It makes 227 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. It takes eight seconds for the base powertrain to go from 0 to 60 miles per hour, while the turbo version only needs 6.2 seconds. Only models of the CX-5 are also solid.

The Mazda CX-30 is also solid

Among all the Mazda vehicles, many drivers consider the CX-30 to be among the best SUVs to buy. As a subcompact SUV, the CX-30 is one of the options for people who want something small yet sporty. When it comes to ratings, J.D. Power gave it an overall 79 out of 100, which represents ‘average’ reliability. The marketing research firm gave the 2025 CX-30 a 76 for quality and reliability.

This is also one of the Mazda vehicles that packs a decent punch with its performance. The CX-30 uses a 2.5-liter inline-four with a maximum output of 191 horsepower and a torque of 186 lb-ft. Like the CX-5, there is also a turbocharged version. This one makes 227 horsepower. The base model needs 8.1 seconds to accelerate to 60 miles per hour, while the turbocharged powertrain takes about 6.1 seconds.

The Mazda CX-9 is also reliable

There is no denying that many of the best SUVs to buy are from the midsize category. This is where the now-discontinued Mazda CX-9 comes in. Not only does it offer a decent amount of space and cargo storage, but it also has generally high ratings. J.D. Power gave the 2023 model, the last, an overall 80 out of 100. It has a 78 for quality and reliability.

This is also one of the best Mazda vehicles for performance. It uses a turbocharged 2.5-liter engine that makes 227 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. It takes about 7.1 seconds to accelerate to 60 miles per hour.
