There have long been warnings against using automatic car washes because, in some cases, they can cause significant damage. Multiple Louisiana drivers learned this lesson the hard way after exiting a local establishment. They soon realized that their vehicles were in worse shape than when they entered the facility. Now, management is claiming zero liability.

According to WBRZ, a Baton Rouge woman recently took her 2024 Toyota Sienna minivan to the Whitewash Express Car Wash in the area. After using the drive-in, she parked and cleaned the inside of the vehicle.

However, the driver quickly noticed that her relatively new van had a massive scratch. Specifically, it was on the passenger side door, and the woman knew it hadn’t been there before.

As many people would, she went inside to alert the staff of the scratch and inquire about the next steps.

To her surprise, another car wash customer was already in the office complaining about the same problem

Reportedly, it was another scratch caused by the automatic car wash. At the time, the staff member told the customers that a rock could have wedged itself inside the brush, which would explain why it scratched multiple vehicles.

The situation worsened about a week later when the story from the staff changed

Instead of saying a rock could have caused the damage, they said the scratches were already there.

Additionally, the staff claimed they had it on video. As anyone could guess, they wouldn’t allow the customers to watch the surveillance footage.

Now, both drivers have canceled their unlimited memberships to the car wash. One of the customers said, “Take care of your responsibility, don’t lie to people, respond, I’ve emailed the claims manager with no response.” Notably, the local news outlet reached out to the facility in question, but has yet to receive a response.
