Peter Corn

Peter Corn joined MotorBiscuit as an Autos Writer in 2020 and brings his quippiest Southern drawl to our table. Having, in his words, “helped” rebuild his dad’s 1959 MGA as a small child, Peter grew up loving vintage cars and trucks, adding motorcycles and all things 4×4 as he went.

Peter earned a Bachelor of Archeology and Creative Writing from the University of Alabama and has since melded his love of driving with storytelling. His voice, full of pleasantries and witticisms, can be enjoyed in The Gentleman Racer, The Vintagent, Gear Patrol, Iron & Air Magazine, and Classic Car Club Magazine.

Peter is a co-founder of both The Colloquial Magazine and The Fire Escape, the official podcast of The Colloquial. In an effort to increase his abilities in “ramping anything with wheels,” Peter has taken track training from Classic Car Club Manhattan and attended Rally School at Monticello Motor Club, where he was coached by eight-time Performance Rally motorsport champion Chris Duplessis.

On a lucky day, we get to hear Peter tell the story of his first car, a jewel of a 1958 Ford Fairlane, into which he dumped more time and money than made sense, but he has no regrets.

The new Bowlus Terra Firma is the most high-lux camper in the game, but does it rival Airstream?

The New Bowlus Terra Firma Camper Is More Airstream Than Airstream

The campers just keep coming. I think in 50 years, these few years will be known as the camper age. Since COVID and the total mess that we call modern politics, many people have chosen to bug out and get into the woods for a bit of peace. While there are countless options from camper …

The 2021 Toyota Camry Finally Brings Back Fan-Favorite Feature After 29 Years

The 1980s definitely had a vibe. It is one of the more identifiable eras in recent history. Back then, Car culture was something altogether different from the previous decade. A major change was the obsession with all-wheel-drive cars. Rally was raging with group B madness, and production cars were all about trying to follow suit. …

The 2022 Porsche Cayenne Looks Crazy Good In New Spy Shots

The Porsche crossovers have been wildly popular. It’s the ultimate “dad wants a sports car but not a divorce” car. People have been buying these things up left and right. I get it. You want to drive a Porsche, but you still need a normal vehicle to use for something other than impressing your Porsche …

The Myth Motorcycles Custom BMW R80 G/S Was Built to Cross Africa With Class

Motorcycles are typically thought of as dirty, loud, and crude sleds for dirty, loud, and crude people to ride around on. Of course, this is a ridiculous notion. In case you need any help understanding how absurd this sentiment is, folks like Roland Sands and Matias Corea will easily change your mind. Look no further …

The 2021 Jeep Wrangler is the Worst – But Chances Are You’ll Love It

Is there a formula for customer satisfaction? It’s a strange part of the automotive industry, in particular. People regularly buy objectively bad vehicles, like horribly uncomfortable sports cars, ridiculous off-roaders, or excessively fancy cars that rarely work. That is not so interesting on its own, but what is interesting is how often people love their …
Honda CR-V Crash tested at slightly different speed reveals big problems for safety rating system

Your Car’s Safety Rating Might Be Worthless at Highway Speed

Obviously, the faster you drive, the less safe you’ll be if you crash. This is an easy concept to understand. Think about SUVs. The faster you go, the easier it is to roll them over. These days car manufacturers go to extreme lengths to make sure cars are safer, but most importantly, to make sure …
NYPD rip donuts during snow storm in NYC

This Proves the NYPD Really Does Love Donuts

Like the stock market or COVID, you likely heard there’s a lot of snow on the East coast right now. You’ve probably also heard the old stereotype that cops love donuts. I’ve never really understood where that comes from. Also, who doesn’t love donuts? Either way, that’s beside the point. Amidst the snowstorm in NYC, …

The 2021 Subaru Outback Refuses to Kneel to the 2021 Kia Telluride

The 2021 Kia Telluride is dominating sales, reviews, and everything else within the midsize SUV segment. With a 97/100 on Consumer Reports, it can be an intimidating model to step up to. However, there is a contender. The 2021 Subaru Outback has stepped up to the plate, and with the Subaru fan base and killer …

Is Buying an Airstream Camper Really Worth the Monster Cash?

Some things are better than they actually are. Let me explain. Nostalgia, icons, classics, these labels raise things above their literal value and give them a supernatural position where what they actually are matters less than what we think they are. A Jeep Wrangler is a great example of this. Airstream campers have fully passed …
The 2021 Honda Accord is the brand's midsize sedan.

The 2021 Honda Accord Is the Shooshing Librarian of Sedans

Most car enthusiasts care a lot about what cars sound like. Engines and exhaust systems are as performance-related as they are pleasing to simply sit and listen to. However, most consumers are more interested in cars that are civilized and quiet. Consumer Reports has made clear that quietness ranks highly on their list of criteria. …
2020 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon side

The Next Jeep Gladiator Model Is a No Brainer

Jeep has seen some big changes recently, with FCA now joining Stellantis. This joining forces made Stellantis the fourth-largest automaker in the world. This powerhouse corporation isn’t wasting any time. It has its eyes set on building the next generation of Jeep Wranglers and Gladiators. Honestly, the news should come as no surprise, but Jeep …
What is the best car for city driving

The Mazda CX-5 and Honda CR-V Battle Over Best SUV For City Life

Driving in a city is complicated and frustrating. Between the traffic, parking tickets, and overall wear and tear on your vehicle, big cities like NYC, for example, are a tough place to drive and own a car. However, depending on which car you have, it can dramatically change how difficult it is. Consumer Reports made …

2022 Hyundai Tucson N-Line Is All Bark and No Bite

The 2022 Hyundai Tucson is getting a whole new look, and frankly, it’s awesome. Regardless of the new Tucson, there is an even gnarlier (looking) one in the works across the pond. The crossover is getting added to the N-Line group. However, unlike the Hyundai Veloster N, Elantra GT N-line, and Kona N, the Tucson …
2020 Ford Super-Duty 7.3-liter 'Godzilla' V8

Hang on Kids – Ford Is Putting the 7.3-Liter Godzilla V8 in School Busses

The car world gets pretty wild from time to time. People build hybrid, genre-crossing machines just to see if they can. Look no further than the Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat. But when Ford announced they would be making a new pushrod V8 crate engine called “Godzilla,” I don’t think any of us thought Ford would …

This Porsche 911 Is Hiding a 6,000-lb Secret Feature

Spy gadgets are cool. Full-stop. The only things cooler than a spy’s gadgets on their person are the gadget-laden vehicles they drive. Take James Bond’s DB5, for instance, it is one of the prettiest cars on earth, but you fill it with rockets, a smokescreen, and some deployable machine guns…now we’re talking about something. I’ll …
2021 Lexus IS350 F Sport parked in the mountains

The 2021 Lexus IS350 F Sport Utterly Fails at Being a Sports Car In 3 Ways

“Sports car” is a bit of a vague term. Like “supercar,” a sports car doesn’t really have a hard and fast meaning. It really comes down to a perceived “sportiness” that also doesn’t mean much unless you actively race it. At any rate, we use the term all the time, and while I may not …

The 2022 Kia Sportage Looks a Million Bucks Better Than It Should

Kia has been knocking everything it touches out of the park lately. The Kia Telluride has been such a smash success that Kia can’t hardly make enough to sell to everyone who wants one. This is, of course, hyperbolic, but you get what I’m saying, dear reader. So, when the new rendering of our best …
Custom 2022 Jeep Wrangler "Jeepster"

The Real Reason 2021 Toyota 4Runner Struggles to Out-Cool the Jeep Wrangler

Toyota 4x4s and Jeep 4x4s are really similar in most ways. Both of them struggle for the same reasons that people love them. Jeeps have always been crude, loud, square, and overall simple. However, this is their greatest attribute. (Consumer Reports begs to differ on this.) On the other hand, Toyota was cutting edge for …
