There is a honeymoon phase when you buy a new truck. For a few days, you’re blinded by how much you love it, then you start to be surprised by annoying features. One Ford F-150 owner is helping you out by providing a few frustrating things to expect before buying.

Annoying Ford F-150 features to be aware of

TikTok user @travmike119 loves his 2024 Ford F-150 with a black appearance package. He claims it’s the nicest vehicle he’s ever had.

First up, the transmission is slow to shift. While the ten-speed automatic transmission saves gas, he didn’t get a truck for its fuel economy.

Next, he says that the 12-inch  infotainment is huge. It’s bigger than an iPad, and Apple CarPlay comes with too many things on the screen. So, he adjusts it to show the Ford GPS every time he gets in his truck.

Then there is a frustrating lack of physical controls. The air conditioning zone has touchscreen options instead of actual buttons to press. Plus, the menu stays on the screen indefinitely until you close it out.

The Auto Start/Stop issue isn’t a Ford thing. All automakers have it, and he simply can’t stand it. Instead of using his words, he expressed frustration by shooting the infotainment system the bird.

Then he shared that the ride height is annoying and wishes there was a suspension setting to lower the truck. That would hike up the price substantially, though.

Speaking of price, with the XLT F-150, a bed liner doesn’t come standard. You end up paying thousands for a truck, and then the bed isn’t protected?

He says these are silly little frustrations. But overall, he loves this truck. I reached out to travmike119 to see if any new things have popped up over time.

Do others agree with these Ford F-150 problems?

Commenters, for the most part, agreed that these features are annoying. The 10-speed transmission is a headache, and a lot of people hate Auto Start/Stop. But one poster shared that you can unplug the feature under the dash.

Some people shared that the bedliner is optional, and he should have asked the dealership for one. But I’m not sure if that’s true.

Others mentioned that their F-150 trucks have quality issues related to chipping paint and body gaps. The weather stripping is prone to falling off.

Overall, these annoyances seem pretty minor. But Ford has issued a lot of recalls to correct numerous defects that could cause frustration.
