Looking to tow? A diesel pickup truck is the right tool for the job. But even with top trims flirting with the $100,000 mark, all five of the cheapest diesel trucks on the market in 2025 start below the $50,000 price point. But not by much.

All of the cheapest diesel trucks on the market for 2025 start at just $50,000. But you’re not likely to get one home for that much

When it comes to the cheapest diesel pickup trucks on the market, every option starts at under $50,000. The Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra continue to offer diesel options in addition to standard gas-powered engines. However, stuffing a diesel mill into the former will demand a $2,495 upcharge.

The Blue Oval takes a top spot with the 2025 Ford Super Duty F-250. The Super Duty F-250 starts at $47,395 for the entry-level XL trim. That doesn’t leave much room between the Super Duty F-250 and the 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD. Chevy’s base, diesel-powered pickup truck asks for just $100 more than the Super Duty.

Adding a more premium badge to the equation tacks on $1,000, bringing the starting price of the 2025 GMC Sierra 2500HD up to $48,495. But just because buyers swap the Bow Tie for a GMC badge, doesn’t mean the Sierra loses its muscle. The posher GM pickup truck will tow up to 13,300 lbs.

The 2025 RAM HD also manages to start at around $2,340 less than that $50,000 ask. However, like the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, RAM buyers will have to pay extra to snag the 430-horsepower Cummins inline-six diesel mill.

That said, you’re unlikely to get even the most affordable options for less than $50,000 after diesel engine upcharges and dealership fees. And that’s for base trims. A 2025 GMC Sierra 2500HD Denali Ultimate starts at an eye-watering $95,495.
