New Study Shows 32% of Truck Owners Lie About How Much They Spend
I’m not saying it’s okay to lie. However, it can be scary to tell your spouse how much you really spent on your pickup trucks. A new study shows that nearly a third of owners admit to lying about how much they spend on mods. I bet this number is higher among Jeep owners, though.
About 32% of truck owners lie about how much they spend
Personalizing your truck and adding upgrades to perfect your build isn’t new. Lying about how much you spend on modifications for off-roading, comfort, or styling isn’t new either.
Sometimes covering your addiction is easier than coming clean to your partner, who just doesn’t understand the joys of having a custom ride.
American Trucks found that 32% of drivers admit they downplay or lie about how much they spend on mods. Good luck to them, because eventually their spouses will discover the truth. You can’t cover up delivery parts and spend more time than usual in the garage forever.
However, on an interesting note, about 51% of pickup owners describe themselves as frugal. But trucks are the most expensive vehicles available. Plus, the fuel and insurance costs are pretty high.
One of the first items to upgrade for performance or style is wheels. But 60% of owners save by going for factory wheels instead of flashier options such as chrome or beadlock options.
On the other hand, 37% of owners go for blacked-out wheels as they rank for being the most attractive. At least 54% of owners try to be financially responsible by planning for upgrades.
They time their purchases like wheels and lift kits around financial boosts such as tax refunds, bonuses, and stimulus checks.
