It’s clear that American mid-size trucks aren’t even close to outselling the 2025 Toyota Tacoma. However, the second place option has quite a lead on the rest of the pack. Surprisingly, the 2025 Ford Ranger is falling behind.

Three mid-size trucks outsell the Ford Ranger in Q3

Upon reviewing mid-size truck sales for the first three quarters of the year, the 2025 Toyota Tacoma can’t be caught. But that’s no surprise. It racked up 73,591 sales in the third quarter of the year. It had 204,464 years to date as of September 30th.

As it racks up even more sales during the fourth quarter of the year, other mid-size trucks battle for second place. The 2025 Chevrolet Colorado sticks out with a sizable lead.

During the third quarter of the year, the Chevy Colorado racked up 25,575 sales. It has 77,390 sales year to date. I honestly thought drivers had been sleeping on this truck.

In third place, we have the 2025 Nissan Frontier. It moved 17,032 models in the third quarter of 2025, bringing its total sales to 47,630.

Next, the 2025 Ford Ranger sold 15,301 trucks in the third quarter of the year, bringing its total to 48,278 for the first three quarters of 2025. But the Frontier could easily outsell it again during the fourth quarter. People are catching on to the power provided by the standard V6 engine.

According to Motor1, the Jeep Gladiator managed to get 13,114 sales in the third quarter, boosting its sales to 38,513 for the year.

Then, in last place, the 2025 GMC Canyon showed up with 9,539 sales for the quarter and 27,878 for the year. As the end of the year sales ramp up, it will be interesting to see what changes are made!
