Hello, Ford Maverick, my familiar friend. I’ve been lucky enough to get the opportunity to review a few different models now. Out of every trim level, the 2025 Ford Maverick Lobo seemed like the most exciting option. However, it has a few ups and downs to consider. 

3 pros and 3 cons with the 2025 Ford Maverick Lobo 

First of all, what is the 2025 Ford Maverick Lobo? Well, it’s the street-racing edition of Ford’s smallest pickup truck. Upgrades include a sport-tuned suspension, lowered stance, beefier brakes, and a torque-vectoring rear drive unit. 

Unfortunately, I didn’t get to test the dedicated ‘Lobo’ drive mode for track use. But that didn’t stop me from putting this sports truck through the paces. 

It also features 19-inch turbofan wheels, which most people aren’t a fan of, a unique grille, a gloss-black roof, and ActiveX-trimmed seats. 

Ford Maverick Lobo cons 

1. The Maverick Lobo comes at a high price 

    The 2025 Ford Maverick Lobo has an MSRP of $37,290. That feels pretty steep for a compact truck. It comes with the turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine with 250 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque, which is fun. 

    However, this engine is available with more affordable time levels. Plus, the engine cooling upgrades are included with the 4K Tow Package. So, you’re spending more for better looks unless you have a closed course to regularly visit. 

    Also, the 2025 Nissan Frontier has an MSRP of $32,050. It has a standard 3.8-liter V6 engine with 310 hp and 281 lb-ft of torque. So you can get more truck and power for less. But that defeats the purpose of going for a compact city truck. 

    2. The seat bolstering could be improved 

      While I’m a fan of how comfortable the ActiveX-trimmed seats are, they could have a better function. The side bolstering is lacking a little as the seats are open and wide. 

      I noticed that while powering through tight curves on the Blue Ridge Parkway, I was sliding from side to side in my seat. One passenger was also getting shifted around, and they complained about getting a little car sick. 

      The backseat is comfortable too, but it might be tight for taller folks. At 5’1”, I can stretch out just fine, but taller people have to do interesting things to squeeze in back there. 

      3. The Maverick is loud 

        Every single time someone delivers a Maverick to me, they complain about the loud interior. I grew up on old trucks and Jeep models, so a loud interior isn’t exactly a negative thing. 

        But you do have to talk pretty loudly on the phone for people to hear you in the Maverick. There is a bit of wind and road noise at higher speeds, but the Maverick Lobo is quieter than other trim levels. 

        Also, people often complain about a loud engine whine or drone. That was definitely more noticeable on earlier models. While the engine still doesn’t sound the best, it has improved in the past couple of years. 

        Ford Maverick Lobo pros 

        1. This is a comfortable truck 

            The two front seats in the Ford Maverick Lobo are incredibly comfortable. The seats are large and well-padded for hours of support during road trips. I know I’m short, but I found a few taller passenger princesses to gauge the seats. 

            The sport-tuned suspension is intelligent and adaptive. It quickly adjusts to changing terrain to provide a smooth ride. I was even impressed by how smoothly it tackled a few light off-roading trails. 

            Plus, the HVAC system is on point for cold mornings and hot afternoons. You can set it and forget it. The system rarely needs adjusting. 

            2. The Maverick Lobo is fun 

              The Ford Maverick Lobo can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 5.8 seconds. That’s plenty of speed to make errands around town more exciting. 

              Plus, the torque-vectoring differential sends power to different wheels as necessary for more precision, control, and stability. It makes cornering more confident, and the upgraded brakes are dependable. 

              The steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters come in handy, and the transmission is programmed to skip second gear. It has better handling than the Lariat and FX4 models. 

              3. The storage is great 

                The Ford Maverick Lobo has an abundance of storage cubbies and trays to take advantage of. There’s even a bin behind the infotainment screen. The glove box and center console are adequate, and cup holders are everywhere you look. 

                Also, the rear seats can be folded up against the back of the cab to provide more space. There are generously-sized storage bins under them. Plus, if you need more, there’s a decent truck bed in the rear.
