Recall: Over 250,600 Chrysler Pacifica and Voyager vans have faulty airbags
Minivans are supposed to be extremely safe! However, the Chrysler Pacifica and Voyager vans are currently facing a dangerous recall. Over 250,600 models may be equipped with faulty airbags. These airbags are supposed to protect rear passengers.
Chrysler Pacifica and Voyager recall due to failing airbags
There are many reasons to enjoy driving a minivan. They’re smooth, comfortable, spacious, and convenient for loading and unloading. However, they’re also supposed to be extremely safe.
However, the Chrysler Pacifica and Voyager vans might be putting your children’s safety at risk. Over 250,600 models are under recall due to having faulty side curtain airbags.
The airbags might have insufficient pressure retention from the seams because they may have been incorrectly sealed. This increases the risk of injuries during a wreck.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the airbags might not have enough pressure to prevent the head from displacing more than 100 mm.
Also, if curtain airbags don’t have enough pressure, occupant protection is reduced. Plus, it increases the risk of partial and complete passenger ejections during certain types of crashes.
The recall includes 2022 – 2025 Pacifica and Voyager models. Stellantis has begun notifying owners at risk via mail. But you can also run your VIN on the NHTSA site to see if your minivan is at risk.
If your Chrysler Pacifica or Voyager is included in this recall, then you will need to visit a local dealership for a free repair. Technicians will replace the airbags if necessary.
About 14% of models are expected to have the defect. Stellantis is unaware of any related accidents or injuries.
