This is your warning. If you don’t want to be hurt by increasing prices in the automotive industry, turn back right now. The 2026 Subaru Outback has officially debuted, with a slightly higher price tag. But don’t worry, it actually increases the value with a massive amount of new standard features.

How much does the 2026 Subaru Outback cost?

The 2026 Subaru Outback has an MSRP of $34,995. The $1,450 destination fee increases the starting price to $36,445. The 2025 model starts at $29,995 without the destination fee included.

So the new Outback starts at $5,000 more before the destination fees come into play. Then there are taxes and dealership fees to deal with. But stick with me here, this is a good thing.

Usually, SUVs only have small price increases year-over-year. However, the 2026 model introduces us to the new Outback generation. Say hello to the seventh-generation!

Also, the base trim was discontinued. But drivers won’t miss it. It only made up 3% of sales. The difference between the 2025 Premium trim and the 2026 Premium trim is only $1,900. But you also get $4,000 worth of new standard features.

According to Subaru, the 2026 Outback has a standard 12.1-inch infotainment system that’s paired with a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. It includes wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.

The enhanced EyeSight system gains a wide angle mono camera for faster reacting active safety. Plus, you get emergency lane keep assist, automatic emergency steering, emergency stop aside, front and side alert, front cross-traffic breaking, vibrating steering wheel alerts, and acceleration override assist.

Other standard safety features include reverse automatic braking, blind-spot detection with rear cross traffic alert, and a DriverFocus driver monitoring

Each model also has standard all-wheel drive and a ground clearance of 8.7-inches. Plus, the new Outback Wilderness model takes the ground clearance up to 9.5 inches.

The Outback is powered by a standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 182 lb-ft of torque. Upgrade to the 2.4-liter turbocharged engine with 260 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque.

A bold new style provides a rugged confidence. It comes with ladder-type roof rails that can carry up to 800 lbs. Plus, it gets extra cargo space and passenger space for comfort while adventuring. The new upholstery features recycled materials like water bottles.

I can’t wait to see how the new dual-pinion electronic power steering system, electronically controlled suspension, and available Nappa leather upholstery compare.
