The 2026 Subaru Crosstrek just got more standard power
Have you ever floored it in a Subaru SUV and thought it was underpowered? Well, you aren’t alone; that’s a common complaint. But the 2026 Subaru Crosstrek is attempting to correct the problem by providing more standard power.
How much standard power does the 2026 Subaru Crosstrek have?
The 2026 Subaru Crosstrek has a standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 182 hp and 178 lb-ft of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 8.6 seconds.
That might not sound like a powerhouse. However, the old standard engine is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder unit with 152 hp and 145 lb-ft of torque. Hopefully, the new engine makes enough of a difference to be noticeable.
According to Cars Direct, the 2026 Crosstrek has a starting price of $28,415. It’s only $435 over the outgoing model. So, getting more power won’t break the bank.
The more powerful engine gets an EPA-estimated 27 mpg in the city and up to 33 mpg on the highway. But the Crosstrek Hybrid is also worth considering.
With the hybrid, you get the 2.5-liter engine with two electric motors and a battery to generate 194 hp. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 7.8 seconds.
The Crosstrek Hybrid is expected to get up to 42 mpg combined with a range of between 580 and 621 miles on a single tank. It starts at $33,995.
There aren’t many other changes for the 2026 model year. The Hybrid engine is available with the Sport and Limited trims. Plus, the Limited and Wilderness trims now have standard heated steering wheels.
