The large and in-charge Subaru Ascent is back for another year. It’s the biggest SUV in the Subaru lineup to provide space for extra pets and passengers. To bolster its value, it has more standard tech at a slightly higher starting price. 

How much does the 2026 Subaru Ascent cost? 

The 2026 Subaru Ascent has an MSRP of $40,795. The 2025 model starts at $38,795, so the entry-level price has increased by $2,000. However, don’t forget about the $1,450 destination fee, which increases the starting price to $ 43,695. 

These prices are comparable to those of our rivals. The Toyota Grand Highlander has an MSRP of $42,310, the Hyundai Palisade rings in at $38,395, and the Ford Explorer starts at $38,330. 

According to Subaru, the 2026 Ascent gains upgraded interior appointments and more standard tech. For example, the entry-level Ascent Premium trim has standard water-resistant StarTex upholstery. 

The standard EyeSight Driver Assist Technology includes a wide-angle mono camera, emergency stop assist, blind spot detection, lane change assist, and rear-cross traffic alert. Drivers also get reverse automatic braking and automatic emergency steering. 

With the top-spec Ascent Onyx Edition Touring trim, you get black Napa leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, ventilated seats, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and 20-inch black finish alloy wheels. 

The Ascent is powered by a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 160 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque. It doesn’t have a hybrid powertrain like most of its rivals. Also, the Ascent can tow up to 5,000 lbs and features standard AWD. 

This updated Subie will arrive at dealerships this fall. It’s built in Indiana beside the Crosstrek and Forester.
