Finally, the 2026 Nissan Rogue PHEV is ready to tackle the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid and Honda CR-V Hybrid. The Rogue needed to go hybrid, but it’s gone a step further with a plug-in hybrid powertrain that’s fast and efficient.

The 2026 Nissan Rogue PHEV is ready to save fuel

There’s a chance that I’m a little too excited about the 2026 Nissan Rogue PHEV. However, after reviewing the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V, I do feel as if the Rogue is a bit underrated.

It has struggled against rivals because it lacks a hybrid engine. The 2025 Rogue has a standard turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine with 201 hp and 225 lb-ft of torque.

It gets an EPA-estimated 25 mpg in the city and up to 35 mpg on the highway, which isn’t bad. However, the RAV4 Hybrid gets an EPA-estimated 41 mpg in the city and up to 38 mpg on the highway.

The Rogue PHEV pairs a 2.4-liter inline-four engine that’s paired with two batteries and an electric motor to generate 248 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque. It has an EPA-estimated range of 38 miles.

Plus, it’s rated to get an estimated 64 MPGe with gas and electricity. When the charge runs out, it gets about 26 mpg with gas only. According to Nissan, it has a range of 420 miles between fill-ups.

I’ve reviewed this powertrain in the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. It’s extremely smooth and athletic. It doesn’t fall short of its estimated ratings.

But wait, there are more surprises. This Rogue model has seven seats and a unique style to set it apart from the models with traditional engines.

Unfortunately, pricing hasn’t been released. The 2025 Rogue has an MSRP of $28,590, and the Outlander PHEV starts at $43,515.
