Drum roll, please! The best-selling Toyota SUV is the RAV4. In fact, it’s so popular that it even outsells the Ram 1500 in our truck-obsessed nation. 

According to Top Speed, the Toyota RAV4 sold 475,193 SUVs in the United States. It got a 9.3% sales increase compared to 2023. 

Meanwhile, the Toyota 4Runner only sold 92,156 models. The Toyota Tacoma sold 192,813 trucks, and the Toyota Tundra sold 159,528 models. 

The 4Runner and Tacoma decline. For example, the 4Runner sold 109,951 SUVs in 2023, and the Tacoma moved 234,768 trucks. However, the Tundra sold 125,185 models in 2023, so it also had positive growth, like the RAV4. 

The 4Runner might be facing a sales decline because it’s old. The 2024 model is part of the fifth-generation that launched in 2010. Some people might be waiting for the sixth-generation to launch in 2025. 

Also, the redesigned Toyota Tacoma was launched in 2024. It took some work to retrofit factories to build the updated model. This may have impacted sales. 

The RAV4 is benefiting from success due to its reasonable price. The 2024 model has an MSRP of $28,675, while the 4Runner starts at $40,705. It’s also more practical than a truck. 

Plus, the RAV4 offers a reliable hybrid powertrain and a PHEV model for those looking to go green. But at the end of the day, the RAV4 benefits from Toyota’s reputation. 

Toyota is known for building durable and reliable SUVs. It has rugged flair too, with available AWD and off-roading oriented trims.
