Only 1 thing stops the Toyota Tundra from being dead last
Do you hear that? It’s the sound of the brakes on Toyota Tundras coming to a screeching halt as it continues to struggle against a massive sales decline. It only has one buffer preventing it from coming in last place, but time is running out.
The Toyota Tundra faces declining sales
Some full-size trucks are celebrating as they release their sales figures. Others, like the Toyota Tundra, are finding themselves in a bit of a pickle as sales continue to drop.
But the Tundra isn’t in last place, yet. It has a little time to turn things around against its rivals. The Ford F-150 is in first place with 412,848 trucks sold year-to-date. It only had 352,406 sales during this period last year and benefits from a 17.2% sales increase.
Then the Chevrolet Silverado is in second place with 278,599 sales and a 2.3% increase. The Ram 1500 has 174,320 salesyear-to-date with a year-over-year sales decrease of 2.9%. Next, we have the GMC Sierra with 166,409 trucks sold this year so far, with an 11.8% increase.
According to Pickup Truck Talk, the Toyota Tundra has sold 74,966 models year-to-date. During this period last year, it sold 78,454, so it’s facing a 4.4% decline.
The only reason why it’s not in last place is that a few models of the discontinued Nissan Titan are still left over. It managed to sell 1,906 models, and it’s unclear how many are left.
When the Titans are totally wiped out, the Tundra won’t have a buffer left. It will drop to the bottom of the pack unless it does some quick thinking to catch up with the Sierra.
