The Zeekr 9X is a competitively-priced ultra-luxury plug-in hybrid SUV with just about every extra imaginable. And Americans can’t buy it.

Why can’t Americans purchase a Zeekr 9x? Zeekr is owned by the Geely Holding Group, which also owns Volvo and Polestar. So, if Volvo and Polestar are allowed to sell cars in America, why isn’t Zeekr?

Unfortunately, the Geely Holding Group’s full name is Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co., Ltd. And there’s the rub. It’s a multinational automotive conglomerate headquartered in Hangzhou, China.

Too bad, because the Zeekr 9X is one sweet ride. Officially launched as the company’s new flagship luxury SUV, the Zeekr 9X packs more features into a single vehicle than most people would think possible.

It features a three-row, six-seat cabin with Cloud Lounge seats with built-in speakers, heating, and massage, swiveling second-row seats, two large sunroofs, a 3,800W Naim audio system, dual 16-inch dashboard screens, handheld physical controls, a sliding 17-inch OLED monitor, an electric split tailgate, and tons of storage space.

The Zeekr 9x not only comes with just about every extra available, but it’s also powerful and safe

The 9x is built on the SEA-S platform, allowing for a 900V high-voltage architecture. Its SEA Super Hybrid system delivers up to 1,000 kW of power, 0–100 km/h acceleration in 3.1 seconds, and a pure electric range of around 236 miles. However, using the gas-charging option, it can go up to 745 miles. Ultra-fast charging from 20–80% can be done in just 8.5 minutes.

There is also the Haohan AI Digital Chassis, which includes advanced air suspension, active roll control, and smart drive modes. Plus, it comes with Haohan Safety Armor, which achieved the world’s first four-way crash test at 105 km/h, plus new protections such as crosswind control, side-impact lift, and automatic obstacle avoidance.

Oh yeah, Zeekr prices it from $65,000 to around $84,000. That’s less than a fully-loaded Ford Bronco, which ranges from the mid-$70,000s to over $90,000.
