‘Science Maniac’ YouTuber Wires 400 Car Batteries Together to Melt Metals and Create a Massive Explosion
Have you ever wondered what would happen if you wired 400 car batteries together? YouTuber Drake “Styropyro” Anthony has (and now you have too).
The man who has described himself as a “professional mad scientist” and a “science maniac” collected 400 car batteries to see how much power he can generate.
It took him two months to wire all the car batteries together for the experiment, using over 1,000 pounds of copper wiring. He also had to create a custom switch capable of handling so much current.
“With these batteries, I can pull electrical currents far beyond the typical lightning strike, and for much longer durations too,” he explained. “I can guarantee you that this video will be unlike anything you’ve ever seen in your life.”
He goes on to explain, “The purpose of this video is to explore the physics of extreme currents. I’m talking scales like you’d find in the national lab, but since this is all in my backyard, I get to have a bit more fun with it. And to be honest, much of this is just going to be me sticking random stuff in between the contacts to see what happens.”
‘The coolest thing’ he has ever filmed
He’s not joking about that last part. Just placing a small steel rod between the switch contacts makes it glow, then basically vaporize in a blinding flash of light. Other metal items made of things like titanium, tungsten, bismuth, and copper produce equally as impressive results.
To finish things off, he pours ferrofluid into the experiment to create a massive explosion. Incredibly, after the blast, the car batteries were are still intact.
The end result is what he called “the coolest thing” he has ever filmed in his life. And that’s saying something, considering he has made videos with titles like “Building a Fire Death Machine Using Soviet Military Tech” and “Terrifying Pulsed Laser Power Supply vs. Household Items.”
