Police Charge Yoga Teacher With Blowing up Cars of Relatives and Friends Because They Didn’t Lend Her Money: Video
Police recently arrested a yoga teacher for a series of car bombings targeting friends and relatives who refused to lend her money. Authorities allege she blew up three cars over a 12-day period.
Surveillance camera footage captured one of her alleged car bomb attacks. Investigators from the Kifissia Security Department in Greece reportedly identified the suspect through video evidence, social media posts, and witness statements.
In one social media post, the yoga instructor reportedly wrote, “You should see the faces of all those who are against me when they see me in front of them. As if they’re seeing divine justice.”
The yoga instructor’s car bombing victims speak out
According to the Greek City Times, a family friend of the suspect said the woman had previously threatened friends, relatives, and neighbors for money. She had also allegedly targeted her parents in the past. Authorities said they knew the suspect because she allegedly set fire to her father’s car about 10 years ago, and police arrested her for arson. Relatives claimed the yoga instructor received significant financial support from her parents.
The first bomb attack was reportedly on her aunt’s car. The second attack was on a family friend. In that incident, police found an improvised explosive device made from a small gas canister, gasoline, and cloth.
“She burned my car. I’m the aunt. The explosions happened inside the garage. We were all terrified, and we jumped up. We were very scared. We were shocked,” Parapolitika reported the aunt said. “My children were trembling from the explosions that happened in the building. We were afraid the building might catch fire because the bedroom was right above the garage, and it would have caught fire. After the explosions, the car came out of the garage and entered the street. Fortunately, otherwise the building would have caught fire.”
The most recent attack occurred on Jan. 29 when a former neighbor’s car exploded after they say they declined to lend the suspect money.
“We were old neighbors, and she asked me for financial help and accommodation,” the former neighbor told news outlet MEGA. “I couldn’t accommodate her. I haven’t seen her for many years, and we had absolutely no communication. I don’t know how it occurred to her to make this move after so many years. The investigation will prove many things. I’m very upset.”
The yoga teacher denies she did anything wrong
The yoga teacher’s lawyer said she denies all charges, including arson and causing serious bodily harm. Following her arrest, the court ordered authorities to hold her in pre-trial detention and to hospitalize her for psychiatric evaluation, according to Tovima.com.
“She’s an unruly girl,” the aunt said. “She asked if she could stay here. We feared the worst. She asked for money; she wanted to get money. She had been locked up twice at Dromokaiteio [a psychiatric hospital in Chaidari, Greece]. There was medical care, she came out of there, and from then on, I don’t know. She went to many relatives and threatened, asking for money.”
