Massachusetts man hits multiple cars in stolen truck while towing boats

Police officers in Cambridge, Massachusetts had their hands full on Sunday night. It all started as Cambridge police received multiple reports of a pickup truck driving erratically and cashing several times.

Rowing members recently returned from a regatta, when the man jumped in the truck, and sped away. He drove up on a bike path and initiated a police chase.

The truck and trailer were reported stolen from Arlington. Also, the trailer was filled with stolen crew boats. As the driver tried to get away, he caused several hit-and-run accidents. Some boats fell out of the trailer and were left in the street.

According to NBC Boston, the driver caused a significant amount of property damage and non-life-threatening injuries.

Police officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver fled. They eventually apprehended the man after he crashed into cement blocks near the Cambridge/Belmont line.

One officer was responding to the scene to assist with the arrest when his cruiser was involved in a crash. He was taken to a local hospital and treated for minor injuries.

The name of the suspect has not been released. There is an ongoing investigation into the incident that involves several partner agencies. The driver has been confirmed as an Arlington resident and is expected to face charges on Monday.
