As much as I like the Jeep Gladiator, I have to face the music. This truck has been struggling for a while, and now things are getting even worse. Stellantis has temporarily paused production due to part shortages. But this could be another nail in the coffin.

Stellantis pauses Jeep Gladiator production due to parts issue

Just to be clear, Stellantis hasn’t officially discontinued the Jeep Gladiator. I just fear that it could be put out to pasture soon as problems continue to build against declining sales.

Production has been paused for roughly a week or so. Jeep hasn’t been able to build Gladiator trucks at its Toledo factory due to an issue with parts. Other factories have paused production as well.

The Detroit Assembly Complex is currently down and the Warren Truck Assembly Plant is paused due to an engine shortage. According to Yahoo, parts shortages, tariffs, retooling, and other problems are giving Stellantis tons of trouble.

However, the Toledo plant is still building the Jeep Wrangler which shares multiple parts with the Gladiator. Reportedly, Gladiator production has been paused to align parts with demand. That sounds like low sales are the main culprit.

In 2024, the Gladiator sold 42,125 trucks. This is down from 55,187. Also, the Gladiator seemed to have hit peak success in 2021 with 89,712 sales.

Sales have continued to dwindle during the first quarter of 2025. Massive sales incentives such as 20% off sticker price and $7,000 in bonus cash allowance haven’t helped move the needle. Perhaps the Gladiator is too expensive and outdated to compete. Something needs to quickly change!
