An elderly airline passenger has a lot of explaining to do. An 80-year-old man attempted to push his wife through airport security in a wheelchair. Officials soon discovered the woman was dead.
This bizarre story comes from Spain’s Canary Islands. Authorities at Tenerife South Airport noticed the man rolling a wheelchair through the security checkpoint. The woman seated in it was completely unresponsive.
Security staff discover the woman was already dead
An airport employee later recounted the moment to Diario de Avisos. “When she took the woman’s hand, she noticed she had an abnormally low temperature and wasn’t breathing. The worker immediately notified her supervisor. Within minutes, the emergency protocol was activated, and numerous security agents, Civil Guard officers, and forensic personnel arrived at the scene.”
Spain’s Civil Guard investigated the incident for foul play. The man told authorities he knew his wife was dead. He said she had died inside the airport several hours earlier. The Canary Islands are a popular tourist destination for Europeans. Authorities believe he may have been attempting to transport her body back home.
