Can a Volvo Be Cool? This C70 Coupe Hopes So
Volvos have a reputation for being a bit boring—dare I say, stodgy. The reputation may not be entirely deserved. A Saffron Pearl C70 coupe currently for sale on Cars & Bids may be proof that Volvos can be objectively cool.
A grand touring Volvo, in a rare spec

In 1998, Volvo took another swing at the grand touring car market. The C70 was a coupe with a turbocharged 2.3-liter I5. It made 236 horsepower and 244 lb-ft of torque. The model also offered suspension upgrades and a rare manual transmission configuration.
It was a true grand tourer, with a luxury interior and features such as dual-zone automatic climate control and a sunroof.

Someone with excellent taste specced the 1998 C70 currently for sale. It features fabulous Saffron Pearl paint (which looks like a burnt orange). The car also boasts a gray leather interior and stick-shift transmission. It currently has some suspension upgrades.
I’ll say the only downside to this car’s configuration is its FWD powertrain. But it looks very cool, in an offbeat RADwood era sort of way. the color reminds me a bit of the 2004-2006 GTO’s available orange color (one of my favorite things about that car). The California ownership history makes this a very desirable car.
One Cars & Bids commenter familiar with the vehicle had the following “review” of this specific car: “It has to be one of the finest C70 Coupes still in existence. Add in the extremely rare color, dark grey interior and a manual transmission, and this is the one to have.” You can see a longer review of this model in the video embedded below:
